Secondary School
For children age 12 to 18 in Grade 6 to Grade 12.
Your teenager is ready for more responsibility than they are often given credit for. Ready to lead a meeting, choose what they investigate, present what they have built, and take responsibility for the outcome.
The experience of Secondary
Your teenager moves between rigorous IB coursework and experiences that extend well beyond it. The IB Middle Years Programme (Grades 6–10) and Diploma Programme (Grades 11–12) are concept-based and inquiry-driven, recognized by universities worldwide.
The campus gives your teenager space to find and be themselves: science labs, the Design Center, theater, gymnasiums, playing fields, and the Atrium where the whole community regularly gathers.
Beyond the classroom, students help run the school. They sit on councils, serve on hiring panels, coach younger students in sport, and lead service projects tied to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. With athletics, performing arts, clubs, councils, and service projects to choose from, your teenager will find something they care about.
One Experiential Week each year in September takes students off campus into the Romanian countryside to build confidence, friendships, and skills they cannot get in a classroom.
Every student has an Advisory mentor who meets with them regularly and knows them as a person. College counseling starts in Grade 10 with a best-fit approach.
What our secondary students are saying
-
What I personally enjoy most about art is getting to be myself and expressing myself artistically. I believe art is important in school because it helps you see things through colors that math and science don’t really show you in.
-
Working with others helps me improve my academic work.
-
I feel safe here and I feel like everybody is kind to each other. AISB is so inclusive and it makes people feel belonging.
-
Football has definitely helped me succeed in my collaboration with people who I’d never usually collaborate with, and it’s helped me work in groups better.
-
Since swimming needs a lot of discipline in school, it taught me to always do my work and focus and be organized.
-
I think this is like a very collaborative experience, and it connects to a lot of other classes as well.
-
Is helping me learn about how the world works. In day-to-day life, I just see things differently.
-
Our sports programme is insane and allows us opportunities we would have never thought possible.
-
The teachers are spectacular and want their students to succeed.
Advisory and college counseling
Every student has an Advisory mentor who meets with them regularly and knows them as a person, not just a learner. College counseling starts in Grade 10 with a best-fit philosophy. The counseling team guides your teenager through up to 12 carefully targeted university applications.
Recent graduates have gone on to Edinburgh, King’s College London, Dartmouth, UBC, University of Amsterdam, Leiden, and universities across 15+ countries.
