The Early Learning Center
The ELC opened in 2017. Classrooms are bright, flexible, and set up to change with the children in them. Outdoor play areas connect directly to indoor spaces so learning moves freely between the two. There is a gymnasium, a library, and collaborative spaces designed for the smallest learners. Cozy corners, construction zones, sensory areas. Every detail is planned around how young children move, play, and learn.
The ELC has its own entrance and its own outdoor space, but it sits on the same campus, so the connection to the rest of the school is there from the start.
Elementary and the Atrium
The Atrium is the first thing your child sees every morning. Music plays, adults greet students by name, and the whole Elementary community gathers here before heading to classrooms. Central Park, the green space at the heart of campus, is where assemblies happen, where Rock in the Park fills with families, and where students eat lunch on warm days.
The Makerspace gives students a place to build, prototype, and test ideas that come out of their units of inquiry. Specialist rooms for art, music, and PE are in the same wing, your child moves between them without crossing campus.
The Elementary library runs a reading program, hosts author visits, and is where The Nibble, the Elementary student literary magazine, comes together.
Secondary
Secondary students move between classrooms, science labs, the Design Center, and the theater on a 75–90 minute block schedule. The science labs are equipped for IB Diploma-level work across biology, chemistry, and physics. The Design Center supports design technology projects from concept to prototype. The theater hosts Grade 6–9 musicals, senior drama productions, and Cabaret Night.
The gymnasiums and playing fields are where nine competitive sports train across three seasons. Tennis courts, a track, and outdoor space for cross-country complete the athletics setup. Friday Night Lights brings alumni, staff, and varsity teams together on the same fields.
Secondary students have their own library and study spaces. These are quieter areas for extended essay research, DP revision, and the independent work the IB demands.
Shared Spaces
The Theater
Productions from ELC showcases through to senior drama. Cabaret Night, Lunch Lounge performances, CEESA Band and Choir, DP Arts Evenings, and visiting artists. Students direct, design sets, and run tech for our productions.
Stradale & Mitzu
The Stradale cafeteria serves lunch daily. Mitzu coffee shops are the in-between-classes stop for older students and staff. Accounts are set up at the start of the year through a simple online system.
Playing Fields & Courts
Football, track and field, softball, cross-country, tennis, basketball, volleyball, badminton, swimming, all on campus or nearby. Three seasons, nine competitive sports, and leagues across Central and Eastern Europe.
Design & Innovation Center
Where design technology projects, robotics (FLL and VEX), and hands-on making happen. Open to Secondary students during and outside class time.

AISB’s Future Design Commitments map out what gets built and upgraded next. The building fee included in tuition funds maintenance, safety upgrades, and new builds like the 2017 ELC and the Design Center.
Campus Questions
Ten hectares, purpose-built, on Pipera Boulevard in Voluntari (northern Bucharest). All three sections, ELC, Elementary, and Secondary, are on one site. The campus opened in 2001 and has been expanded several times since.
Yes. Open houses run throughout the year for each section, and private tours can be arranged through the admissions team. There is also an interactive virtual tour available online. You do not need to apply before visiting.
The ELC is a separate purpose-built building on the same campus. It has its own entrance and outdoor spaces, but your child is part of the wider school from day one, older students visit, shared events bring everyone together, and the transition to Elementary happens on the same site.
