Scholarships
Each year, AISB awards a small number of scholarships to students entering Grade 9 who could not otherwise attend.
About the Scholarship
The AISB Scholarship Program gives students full access to a challenging international education. Recipients join the school from Grade 9 and stay through to graduation.
Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. Financial need is the starting point, but the committee also looks at academic ability, community involvement, and ethical behavior. The committee is looking for students who would thrive at AISB but could not attend without financial support. These are students who are curious, engaged in their communities, and ready to contribute to classroom discussions and school life.
Since the program began in 1999, over 50 students have received scholarships.
Who Can Apply
- Students entering Grade 9 with demonstrated financial need
- Strong academic ability and involvement in community activities
- Strong English skills, evidenced by grades and writing samples
- Any nationality, awarded without regard to gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, or national or ethnic origin
- Applicants must not be currently enrolled at AISB, or have been previously enrolled
Our journey
How the competition works

Stage 1
Scholarship open house
An evening on campus in February, hosted by the School Director and faculty. Your family hears about the program, what it offers, and how the competition works. -
Stage 2
First exam
A computer-based cognitive ability test (GL Assessment CAT). The top 20–30% of results advance to the next stage. -
Stage 3
Documents and second exam
Candidates submit required documents and essays, then sit an English essay and math exam. The full scholarship committee reviews results and student files together. -
Stage 4
Interviews with finalists
The committee meets with finalists in person. The committee wants to understand two things: how attending AISB would change the student’s path, and what the student would contribute to class discussions, to the community, and to school life. -
Stage 5
Announcement
Successful students are notified and offered the scholarship for the following four school years.
Scholarship Questions
Students entering Grade 9 who demonstrate financial need, strong academics, community involvement, and ethical behavior. Applicants need strong English skills. Students currently or previously enrolled at AISB are not eligible.
Full access to AISB’s educational program, including the IB Diploma and Global Impact Diploma.
The process has multiple stages, cognitive testing, written exams, document review, and interviews. The committee typically selects up to four students per year.
The annual AISB Gala is a community fundraiser that helps fund scholarship places. Families who attend are directly contributing to the program. Learn about giving.
