SUMMER READING PROGRAMS
Elementary School - Grab a book, and strike a
pose! We encourage elementary students to read wherever they are this
summer...in hammocks, on mountaintops, under bedsheets, or at the
beach. And, we want to celebrate all that reading by collecting the
wackiest, wildest photos of kids reading. So, be sure to snap a
picture of you reading a book this summer. And, keep in touch with all
your friends who will be reading too. Log into the Summer Reading Blog
and talk about your favorite books.

Secondary School - We have launched our new Readers' Choice Summer Reading Program. It's simple, each student selects a book of their choice and we buy it for them. Really! We do. Then, when we return to school in August, we'll get together to talk about all the great books we've read. Students will then be encouraged to donate their books to our new Readers' Choice Collection in the library which will consist entirely of books selected by students, for students.
What's Been Happening in the Library
Niall
de Burca, an International Storyteller from Dublin became an overnight
sensation here at AISB. All of our students, whether in kindergarten
or getting ready to don a cap and gown, sang his praises.
Picturing the Possible
Photographer Michael Carroll, founder of Fundatia Inocenti visited our library.
Thirsty Vampire Reading Challenge
Nearly 90 of our 4th and 5th graders met the first Thirsty Vampire Reading Challenge, and we couldn't be more proud. To celebrate, we gathered in the library for a concert featuring the high school band "24 Italian Difficulties" and we got a special performance by Niall de Burca.
Operating Hours
We are open early, at 7:00 a.m. and remain open until 4:00, one hour after the end of our secondary school day.

Our
library boasts a collection of 30,000 volumes as well as access to
online resources. The library is the heart of the school and
throughout the year we host exhibits, guest speakers and special events.
We
hope to inspire students and adults alike to seek information and ideas
for their educational and recreational needs. Whatever you hope to
learn, we are here to help you find the information you need or to help
you select just the right book for pleasure.
We hope you feel at home here, and drop by often.

Policies
Although it's not required that the
library be a silent space, we do ask that you keep your voices down so
that others may read, study, and concentrate. Students may wear
headphones in the library, just be sure they are not so loud that they
disturb other patrons nearby.
Eating and drinking in the library are only allowed in the IB study room.
IB study room
The
IB study room is a quiet space for IB students. This space may also be
reserved for teaching literacy skills and for classes needing library
resources. To reserve this space, contact the Head Librarian. In order
to preserve this space as a study area for student learning, this space
is generally not reserved for meetings.
