1. When does the recruitment process begin?
School administrators attend recruitment fairs in January to March. However, the best time to send your application is no later than December 30 of each year. We keep applications on file for one year.
2. When are new teachers expected to start school?
New teachers are expected to arrive in Bucharest at the beginning of August.
3. Does AISB recruit teachers without certification?
It is best to be certified in the field of teaching for which you are making application.
4. Does AISB recruit families?
Our recruitment policy is to recruit candidates with the skills and qualifications that match the position requirements. We hire singles and teaching couples with or without children
5. Does AISB recruit any particular nationality of teachers?
We are an international school with teachers from 13 nationalities on staff.
6. What is the salary range paid by AISB and in what currency is this paid?
The salary paid depends on the degree and years of experience. The annual teacher salary ranges from minimum 22,086 to 37,479. The salary is paid in Euro and is not subject to local taxes.
7. What are the benefits offered by AISB to Overseas Hired Teachers?

8. Is a visa required in order to travel to Romania?
EU citizens do not need a visa to travel to Romania
US and Canadian passport holders do not need a visa and are allowed to stay in Romania up to 90 days without a permit. The school assists teachers in obtaining residence permits upon arrival. Specific requirements will be provided once a contract with the school is signed.
Teachers of other nationalities need to apply for a long term visa at a Romanian Embassy abroad before relocating to Romania.
9. Are our dependent children permitted to attend school at AISB?
Yes, up to two dependent children are permitted to attend school at no cost to the Overseas Hired employee. All dependents must meet the entrance requirements.
10. What documents are required for employment and/or for residency permits?

- For residency permit application:
- Passports valid for at least five years for you and dependents, if any.
- If you have dependent children: original birth certificate and original marriage certificate (if applicable) with apostille stamps from the issuing country.
11. Which are the challenges of living in Bucharest
- Traffic congestion can often result in lengthy commute times. This is due to the burgeoning economy which has spurred a significant amount of construction throughout the city.
- Street dogs in some areas of town can make cycling challenging.
- Faculty cars cannot be driven outside Romania.
- Housing for faculty can vary depending on what is available on the market year to year. Teachers have the option of moving to a new apartment after their first year if they so choose.
