Employment Details
AISB hires expatriate faculty primarily at the recruitment fairs. Occasionally we do hire local expatriate teachers who are already living in Romania. Here are the definitions of the two categories:
Locally Hired Expatriate Teachers
Locally hired teachers are those who have come to Bucharest of their own volition and are subsequently hired by the school. Their decision for coming to Romania may be to accompany a spouse or partner who will be working in Bucharest, or any other circumstances that would cause them to be here prior to the hiring process.
Since the school has not recruited these teachers to come to Bucharest specifically to work at AISB, support benefits such as housing, transportation, etc. are not included in their contract of employment. Locally hired teachers are offered one year contracts and a competitive in the region salary and benefit package.
Overseas Hired Teachers
These teachers are those who are recruited from abroad specifically to work at AISB. Since the school is the primary sponsor of an overseas hired teacher in Romania, we provide support benefits as part of the contract of employment.
Overseas hired teachers may be recruited through advertisements and follow-up interviews, recruitment fairs, and/or other venues in which they will be considered in relation to other overseas candidates. AISB offers an initial two-year contract and provides a competitive salary and benefits package. For example, the school provides tuition remission for up to two dependent children per family to attend school. All dependent children must meet the admissions criteria and requirements of AISB. Further information is provided if you are invited for an interview.
Teachers are expected to:
- Participate in the curriculum revision process.
- Participate in personal and professional growth.
- Participate in positive team planning, including work with specialist teachers.
- Participation in community service projects.
- Participate in coaching, outdoor education trips, school-wide events, and/or extracurricular activities.
