In order to achieve our mission and philosophy, we are seeking to recruit highly qualified teachers and administrators who can support the development of the school.

New teachers join our faculty annually and are a valuable asset to AISB because they bring different ideas from their teaching experiences, and have the potential to make valuable contributions to the continued development of our students and school.

AISB normally hires teachers with a Master's Degree and at least three years of successful teaching experience in the field of application. Teachers must be certified or licensed to teach by their home countries. Our well-trained, enthusiastic staff is comprised of 12 different nationalities of teachers. The school is particularly interested in teachers with:

1. Experience teaching in the International Baccalaureate Program

2. Experience in integrating technology into the curriculum learning process

3. Experience with differentiation in the classroom and teachers with English as a second language or other language training

AISB was founded in 1962 by the American Embassy and is currently located in the northern section of Bucharest near the airport. Our 10 hectares campus has students and faculty from almost 50 nationalities and we celebrate our diversity.

With an average of 710 students in EC3-12th Grade, AISB is an ideal size. It is large enough to offer a wide range of programs and facilities and yet small enough that every student is known by name and individual attention is the rule. The student teacher ratio is 7.2:1. The school is financially sound and offers a varied curriculum and extracurricular activity program.

AISB's new modern facility was opened in 2001 and is fully equipped in every way. The school has over 500 computers that are all networked to the Internet. There is a teacher laptop program and the Media Center/Library has nearly 35,000 volumes and subscribes to several external databases.

AISB has a rich and well balanced after school athletic program for elementary, middle and high school students. We participate in the Central and Eastern European Schools Association, which provides our Middle and High School students with a variety of academic, artistic and athletic competitions and experiences.
