Welcome to the AISB Library!
The library is the center of information at AISB, with 30,000+ print volumes, 18 electronic databases, 60+ magazine titles, DVDs and professionals here to answer your information needs. The library is a vibrant place and sponsors a number of special events designed to promote reading and literacy. Our visiting author program brings artists, authors, storytellers, and musicians to the school 5 times a year, and each of the visits is capped with a Family Night for the community.
Reading promotions begin with the Early Childhood and continue through Grade 12, and there is something for everyone! The Thirsty Vampire challenge, Book Bingo, Blind Date with a Book, Battle of the Books…we keep the students reading!
The library is growing, we will soon be a collection of libraries! Increased space means more quiet study rooms for individuals and tutoring sessions, larger teaching spaces, creative spaces for a mix of activities, and ultimately, a place where the community can come together. Individual students, classes, and parents are encouraged to take part in our activities and enjoy the space.
The AISB library appreciates the digital world and seeks to find a balance between digital and print. In addition to our print collection, we offer e-books and audiobooks online, the New York Times online, several children’s online collections (Big Universe, PebbleGo, & TumbleBooks), and a robust research database collection.
The librarians are dedicated to literacy and this encompasses information literacy in the classroom. Ask us about bringing reading and comprehension skills to the classroom, or notetaking and paraphrasing for students…we actively engage in student learning!
The library is open Monday-Tuesday-Thursday from 0730-1700, and Wednesday-Friday from 0730-1600. When After School Activities are not in session, the library closes at 1600.
Come in and get some books for summer!
