Dear families,

Welcome to the Elementary section of the Primary Years Program at the American International School of Bucharest. Walking the halls and visiting the classrooms of our Elementary School you will quickly be embraced by the welcoming atmosphere, one where students and teachers are actively engaged in inquiry-based learning where the IB Learner Profile is visible at every grade level.

As our mission states, we are a school committed to providing a rigorous and balanced international education to our students. We believe that it is our duty to engage our students in meaningful learning that will last a lifetime, to prepare them to move into a world where they will have positive impact, and to inspire each of them to realize their own potential as responsible, internationally-minded citizens in an ever-growing global community. Valuing the role of education beyond academics, we provide an extensive combination of fine arts, sports, and service learning opportunities that challenge our students to grow and develop.

At AISB, we have a culturally diverse staff committed to the cognitive, social, and emotional development of our students. Our talented, caring teachers strive to offer the best possible primary education in Bucharest to globally minded and internationally mobile families. Just as we expect our individual students to learn, grow, and pursue excellence on a daily basis, it is our pleasure as educators to make the commitment to developing AISB and always do better than our previous best.

With this in mind, it is essential for parents to engage in a partnership with us. Your support of AISB, its philosophy, and the development of independent, open-minded lifelong learners is vital to your child’s success in our school. My hope is that the pages of this website share the story of learning at our school. We’re very proud of our school and invite you to come and visit us. On behalf of the staff, I extend a warm
welcome to you all.

Kind regards,

Elyane Ruel
