Academics & Student Life

Academics at AISB cover three divisions, namely Early Childhood, Primary School, and Secondary School. The Early Childhood caters for students aged 2 to 6 in EC2 to Kindergarten. The Primary School welcomes students aged 6-11 in Grades 1 through 5, and the Secondary School includes students between Grades 6 to 12 who are 11-19 years old.

All school sections follow the International Baccalaureate programs of instruction: the Primary Years, Middle Years, and Diploma Programs, making AISB an IB World school, the first of its kind in Romania.

Currently, the school is undergoing expansion, with two projects being carried out simultaneously. The Early Childhood Center is being built in the south-east corner of the school, a visionary project of 78,000 square meters that will house our two to five year olds with dedicated facilities, including a cafeteria, library, and gym. This building will allow for an expansion of our car-parking facilities and drop-off areas. Additionally, the Secondary School expansion will feature additional classrooms, faculty work-spaces, and a large examination/common room, adding a floor to this building on either wing.

Early Childhood

Under the leadership of Mrs. Rosella Diliberto, the Early Childhood brings together 207 children between 2 and 6 years old in a dynamic, multinational environment that represents 13 nationalities. Every Early Childhood classroom is looked after by a teacher and classroom assistant, with a maximum class size of 12 children. The new Early Childhood Center will be ready in January 2017 – a unique project that will house our youngest learners!

Primary School

The AISB Primary School welcomes children between 6 and 11 years old who are looked after by a team of 43 dedicated classroom teachers and grade-level assistants. Led by Ms. Elyane Ruel, the Primary School is the most diverse school section at AISB, with 243 students representing 17 nationalities.

Secondary School

The AISB Secondary School includes the Middle School and the High School. The Middle School, under the direction of Mrs. Alba Carollo, welcomes students between the ages of 11 and 15 in Grades 6 to 8. The High School, lead by Mr. Lorne Bird, caters for students between 15 and 19 in Grades 9 to 12. Together, the Secondary School welcomes 409 students from 21 nationalities with  73 specialist faculty members.
